Why does our skin age

Internal and external factors contribute to the cellular aging of our skin. Heredity and lifestyle, for example, contribute considerably. Some factors are controllable while others are not. We often take our skin for granted and sometimes abuse it. When we are young, our skin heals and restores itself easily, but as we enter our twenties, healing and restoring processes slow down. Negative effects of mistreatment, such as long-term exposure to sun or cold, are cumulative and the consequences are serious and sometimes irreversible: we are left with premature wrinkling, sagging, dry skin as well as facial discoloration and pigmentation changes.

The REVERSA Skin Revitalizing Program

It is a dynamic personalized exfoliation program which will restore the natural, smooth and supple texture of their skin. This will lead to a more youthful-looking complexion in just a few short weeks. The program consists of three steps.

You will begin using reversa products containing 10% or less glycolic acid. The doctor will evaluate your skin type and recommend the ideal REVERSA products. You will use them for 2 to 3 weeks. This step will prepare your skin for the higher strength glycolic acid peel.

The doctor will apply concentrated solutions of glycolic acid (ranging from 20% to 70%) to provoke a controlled series of active exfoliations. For maximum benefits, peels are applied every two to four weeks until a series of 6 are completed.

Your revitalized skin requires maintenance to retain its smooth, even, hydrated texture. This consists of using the recommended REVERSA products at home, and occasionally having a maintenance peel every 3 to 4 months.

  • More vibrant complexion
  • Reduction in the size of pores
  • Brown pigmentation lightened
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improvement of certain acne conditions
  • Skin modification, leaving it more supple, smoother and firmer

Please let us know…

If you have been treated with liquid nitrogen, have other peels or dermabrasion, radiation treatment, kelodial or hypertrophic scarring, herpes simplex, warts or have been using skin medication. It is very important that you make your doctor aware of this information before you begin your series of peels. It is vital for the doctor to have a complete knowledge of your skin problems to make an appropriate choice for your treatment.

What must we do 2 days before the peel ?

It is recommended to discontinue the use of other skin products other than REVERSA. This is to ensure that you do not experience any unforeseen reaction. Washing with a face cloth, a loofah, using a mask, waxing or electrolysis increases the risk of irritation and adverse reaction to the peel such as excessive redness and tingling.

What can we expect following the peel ?

You can expect a slight redness for approximately three hours following a peel. Crusting and flaking are also possible results that will resolve within a few days. You can return to your normal skin care routine the following day. Scratching and rubbing the treated area should be avoided, as this may lead to further redness and crusting.
