Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty surgery is a method of restoring youth to sagging, drooping, baggy, bulging eyes.

The Ellman Surgitron is the premiere device for shaping the eyelids. The Ellman allows a superior result leaving the least noticeable scar and the quickest recovery.

Blepharoplasty is usually a one to two hour outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. It involves removing fat, muscle and skin from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Dr. Albert marks your eyelid creases. Incisions are usually made in the natural creases of your upper eyelids and just below the eyelash of the lower lids. Soft curved arched incisions then extend into the lateral crow‘s feet of the outer eye. In some cases of isolated puffiness of the lower lids, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty is done. This technique involves incisions on the lower lid to remove the undesired pocket of fat. Incisions are then closed using very fine dissolving sutures. If sutures do not dissolve within 10 days, the doctor will remove them.

Discuss your medical condition prior to any surgery. Pain after the procedure is quite minimal. Over the counter medications are sufficient for pain management. Recovery after blepharoplasty is 2-3 weeks. Swelling and bruising is part of the healing process. Cold compresses can be used to reduce swelling and discomfort. Keeping the head elevated when sleeping and limiting physical activity is recommended after the procedure for several days. Your eyes may also feel itchy. Eye drops recommended by Dr. Albert can alleviate this.
